Cincinnati Civic Orchestra Holiday Concert

Top your holiday off with the sounds of a 60-piece orchestra concert by the Cincinnati Civic Orchestra.   The concert is among the many featured activities families can enjoy at WinterFest Reimagined. The event will take place on Sunday, December 8th from 2-4pm, indoors at The Grove Event Center, located at 9150 Winton Road.

The theme of the concert is Mystical Russian Holiday Traditions. The concert will feature Russian Christmas Music by Reed and McAlister, a beautiful setting of the unique and brilliant sounds of the Russian Holidays, Anatole Lladov’s Religious Song and selections from Peter Tschaikowsky’s The Nutcracker Suite.  We will also perform Tschaikowsky’s Noel from The Seasons and his March of the Tin Soldiers which we will play with Pierne’s March of the Little Lead Soldiers and the March of the Toys from Victor Herbert’s Babes in Toyland.  The orchestra will celebrate Thanksgiving with our annual performance of Thanksgiving Medley, composed for the Civic Orchestra by our own Edward F. Howard.  The concert will open with Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride and conclude with our traditional finale, Festive Sounds of Hanukah and Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival, performed in the original, uncut, 1951 Boston Pops premiere edition.

Admission to the concert and to WinterFest is free with the donation of a new or used coat, unwrapped toy or canned good to support the various services offered to residents in need.

On-site parking is limited and carpooling is advised. If parking is full at The Grove, a free shuttle service is provided to and from the old Kroger building at 8685 WInton Road. Tickets are not required for the show.
