Full-Time Mechanic

GENERAL PURPOSE: Performs a variety of tasks related to maintaining the mechanical performance of the fleet vehicles along with other maintenance and repair-related duties.


  • Maintains and repairs all fleet units, vehicles, and equipment to ensure proper working order.
  •   In a timely and cost effective manner, retrofits or changeovers installation of emergency equipment onto fleet vehicles to ensure minimized down time.
  • Maintains accurate and complete vehicle repair and information files, including repair records, maintenance records, and equipment and registration information to ensure optimum efficiency of fleet equipment.
  • Maintainings building in compliance with all O.S.H.A., E.P.A., and fire regulations, and reports to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor all violations and deficiencies.


  • Maintains in good order and condition the fleet department maintenance garage, office, and parts storage room.
  •  Maintains records of all hazardous chemicals utilized in maintenance garage and provides material safety data sheets on each to ensure compliance with O.S.H.A. and all other required standards.
  • Performs yearly inventory of all equipment, supplies, and parts in maintenance garage by Dec. 1st.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Public Works Director and Public Works Director.

Part-Time Laborer

GENERAL PURPOSE:  Under the general supervision of the Public Works Director and other supervisory staff performs a wide variety of tasks related to the operation of the Township Public Works Department.


  • Safely operates equipment used in carrying out the maintenance operations in the Township; single axle dump trucks, backhoe/loader, articulating front end loader, asphalt roller, brush chipper.
  •  Safely operates various hand and power tools; chainsaws, power saws, hammers, shovels etc.
  • Performs various maintenance tasks in accordance with established procedures and performance standards, such as: pothole patching, crack sealing, tree trimming, manhole repairs, concrete work, fence installation and repair; mowing and trimming of grass, trash pick up, maintenance of park equipment, repair/replacement of street signs, curb repair, dragging and lining of ball fields, and the placement of athletic and recreational equipment.
  • Operates fully-equipped single axle dump truck during inclement weather to ensure the effective removal of snow and ice on Township streets, roads, rights-of-way, and property.
  • Performs janitorial duties such as mopping and sweeping floors, dusting and cleaning various surfaces, cleaning and sanitizing restroom facilities, and stocking bathrooms supplies in order to provide a clean environment for employees and visitors to our facilities.


  • Properly uses safety equipment and follows established safety procedures.
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Public Works Director or Public Works Director to ensure an accurate, efficient, and prompt complete response.
