As part of our ongoing commitment to improving our community's infrastructure and maintaining our streets, we want to give you an update on the Millville Avenue and Donna Avenue Concrete Repair and Utility Improvements project.
The water main replacement on Donna Avenue (from Millville Avenue to Elizabeth Drive) began on Thursday, July 11, closing the street to through traffic while the work is being performed.
During this same period, Millville Avenue from Donna Avenue to Washington Boulevard will remain closed while water main work progresses. The intersection of Millville Avenue and Washington Boulevard will be closed on July 17 and 18 for additional water main installation and setting up testing equipment.
Water main testing is scheduled to begin Thursday, July 18 on Millville Avenue, resulting in a street closure between Ohio Avenue and Washington Boulevard during that time.
If work permits, the contractor will install pipe on Donna Avenue between Susan Drive and Elizabeth Drive and Millville Avenue between Wrenwood Drive and Ohio Avenue during the testing process. Street closures on these sections will be required to perform this work.
Once testing has completed, the contractor will complete tie-ins and install water services on Millville Avenue, Gersam Avenue, and Donna Avenue.
We are working with the storm / concrete contractor to begin the storm sewer work on Millville Avenue while the street remains closed to minimize future disruptions. Our contractors are committed to working efficiently, restoring trenches as they go, and ensuring thorough cleanup of the site.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of our citizens as we undertake these necessary improvements to our infrastructure. Please use alternate routes where possible and adhere to posted detours and safety signs.
Work Completed to Date
Approximately 2,500 feet of water main has been installed on Millville Avenue, Gersam Avenue, and Donna Avenue.
As always, please be mindful that additional traffic disruptions will occur to perform this work. However, access to local businesses and residential properties will remain. The construction schedule is weather permitting.
