Muhlhauser Barn celebrates its 10th anniversary March 30, 2018.

The 15,000 square foot rental facility, located at the foot of Beckett Ridge in the heart of Beckett Park, celebrates its 10th “re-birthday” this spring.

After re-location and renovation, the Muhlhauser Barn and Moerlein Gazebo were dedicated on March 30, 2008. The 1881 timber-frame barn, originally located on Seward Road, was first used by the Windisch-Muhlhauser Brewing Company to stable horses and store grains for brewing beer during the pre-Prohibition era.

Through the generosity of the Ohio Casualty Group and the Muhlhauser family, the barn was carefully preserved and moved to West Chester more than a decade ago. Keeping its classic look intact, the barn’s original wood beams and slate tile roof were dismantled piece by piece and rebuilt using a combination of traditional and modern methods.

Along with its rustic charm and rich Cincinnati brewing history, the Muhlhauser Barn features a 45-foot ceiling, large stone gas fireplace, an attached deck, and an indoor loft space.

The Barn has been rented nearly 1,000 times since 2008, playing host to parties, reunions, meetings, nuptials and more.

The seasonal facility is open for rentals April 1 to November 15.

In addition to private functions, the facility is also home to some annual community gatherings:

LEI 5k Run/Walk on Friday, June 29 – This is a ticketed event benefiting the Neurosurgery Fitzpatrick Chiari Foundation.

West Chester Symphony Orchestra’s “Spooktacular” Halloween concert on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
